Membership Eligibility Criteria
CBECU is an exclusive financial cooperative serving employees of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago and their families.
Central Bank Staff
Open to all permanent, temporary, and contracted employees of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago and its affiliated operating bodies.
Immediate Family Members
Spouses, children, parents, and siblings of eligible Central Bank employees are warmly welcomed to join with full shareholder privileges.
Retirees & Pensioners
Retired Central Bank personnel retain their full eligibility and lifetime shareholder rights to all savings, dividend, and loan products.
Age & Legal Standing
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age (or under 18 via joint account with parent/guardian) and in good financial standing.
What You Need to Provide
Ensure you have the following 6 items ready when preparing your membership submission for seamless 3–5 day approval.
Completed Application Form
The official membership application form filled out completely and signed by the applicant (both parties must sign for joint accounts).
Two (2) Valid Photo IDs
Two valid unexpired government IDs: National Identification Card, Passport, or valid Driver’s Permit.
Proof of Employment
A formal job letter from your employer (no older than 3 months) accompanied by your most recent payslip.
Proof of Residential Address
A recent utility bill (T&TEC, WASA, or TSTT/Digicel) in your name no older than 3 months, or bank statement verifying your residence.
Initial Deposit & Admin Fee
The initial qualifying share deposit into your member equity account plus the one-time non-refundable administrative processing fee.
Family Relationship Documents
If applying as an immediate family member: certified Birth Certificate (for children/siblings) or Marriage Certificate (for spouses).

Submit Documents
Submit your signed application form along with your 2 photo IDs, job letter, and utility bill online or at our office.
Document Verification
Our administrative team conducts an initial check to confirm all documents meet statutory compliance requirements.
Due Diligence Review
Standard regulatory and credit union verification is performed within 1–2 business days.
Committee Approval
Your completed application package is reviewed and officially ratified by the Membership Committee.
Welcome Notice
You receive an official welcome notification via email and SMS confirming your membership approval.
Account Activation
Your initial share deposit is registered, online portal access is provisioned, and your member ID credentials are issued.

How long does the membership application process take?
The application review and approval process typically takes 3 to 5 business days, provided all 6 required supporting documents are complete and valid upon submission.
What if the utility bill is not in my name?
If the utility bill is in the name of a landlord, spouse, or parent, you can provide an authorization letter from the property owner confirming your residence, along with a copy of their valid national ID card.
Can I apply for a loan immediately after my membership is approved?
Yes! Once your membership is approved and your initial share deposit is registered, you are eligible to apply for loans and all other financial products offered by CBECU.
How can I submit my completed application?
You can submit your physical application in person at our 11th-Floor office in the Central Bank Building (Eric Williams Financial Plaza), or submit scanned digital copies via our secure website form.
